Maxeler Dataflow Programming for Amazon EC2 F1 Instances

Track: Tutorials

The tutorial covers how to program Amazon F1 Instances with Maxeler's MaxCompiler. The recent introduction of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) F1 Instances opens up new exciting opportunities to bring Maxeler Dataflow computing to the Cloud for both commercial as well as academic users. Maxeler Technologies works with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon F1 Instances are compatible to Maxeler's newest generation MAX5 Dataflow Engines (DFEs). This allows application developers to develop for a local MAX5 target with Maxeler's MaxCompiler and then migrate the same dataflow design to AWS to run on an F1 Instance. For commercial users, this enables a new flexible deployment model where dataflow designs can be run locally on a Maxeler dataflow computer and expand elastically into the Amazon Cloud during peak demand. For academic researchers, it creates the opportunity to explore heterogeneous data-centre environments and carry out research on a range of topics including application acceleration, numerics, reconfigurable computing, and computer architecture without the cost of purchasing hardware equipment.
